Businesses and HR bosses can find out about the pitfalls of employment law at a series of free seminars

Recruitment leaders Supertemps have joined forces with Manchester-based JMW Solicitors to hold events across March and April.

The group – which has offices in Colwyn Bay and Bangor – will give those in attendance an overview of changes to the law and those due to come into effect this year.

Topics include employment status and the ‘gig’ economy, disability discrimination, gender and dress codes, and considerations around the imminent General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

Sarah Ellwood, Managing Director of Supertemps and its executive and IT arm, S2 Recruitment, said the sessions are aimed at HR directors and managers, business owners and anyone in charge of staff.

“We are delighted welcome JMW for these vital legal seminars, which have always been well-received,” she said.

“It’s an opportunity for us to highlight recent changes and those to come in the near future, so the delegates are fully informed when tackling employment issues in their own workplaces.”

JMW Senior Associate Jennifer Smith hosts the first session at Ty Menai in Bangor on Thursday March 15.

Her day to day role is to provide employment law advice to all clients and she has a broad range of experience spanning both contentious and non-contentious employment work.

The Manchester Evening News reported: “Jennifer has been recognised for the outstanding contribution she has made to her firm and for demonstrating exceptional performance in the provision of professional services in the Manchester business community.”

Looking ahead to the seminars, she said: “The law relating to employment is a minefield and constantly evolving. JMW recognises the challenges that this presents for clients and aims to deliver pragmatic commercial solutions which help them meet obligations without losing sight of their objectives.

“Our experienced team advise on all aspects of employment law, both contentious and non-contentious, with particular expertise in the recruitment sector.”

JMW partner Simon Bloch has more than a decade of specific expertise in the recruitment sector and will speak at the second event at Porth Eirias in Colwyn Bay on Thursday April 12.

He has extensive knowledge and understanding about the Agency Workers’ Regulations and regulatory legislation that govern how employment agencies can operate.

Both sessions are free and begin at 8am. For more information and to register, visit www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/supertemps-limited-4607740977
