From September 9, consumers will be able to buy content and services from the internet without having to give out credit card details across the web or being forced into annual subscriptions when they only want one thing. BTís revolutionary new service, BT click&buy (www.btclickandbuy.com), will give the consumer secure access to new, high quality content or previously unavailable content, at the click of a button.

Consumers going to www.btclickandbuy.com can buy premium content ranging from games, music, film, recipes, news, reports, sport, horoscopes, ringtones to financial advice. During the launch week, a number of the BT click&buy partner sites will be offering content at half price as an introductory offer. Content available throughout the week includes ringtones, logos and picture messages from iconaphone.com, a tour of the historic Taj Mahal (taj-mahal.net), a choice of six classic childrenís books (talkingbooks.org), racing tipster information (sportinglife.com), tutorials, reviews and features (internet-magazine.com), a choice of 12 issues of The Skam uncovering the best new music (skam.com) and handy computing ëhow toí guides and tips (computeractive.co.uk).

In addition, consumers will also be able to plan a supper party menu and become an expert in some of the worldís most popular cuisines with foodndrink.co.uk, find out all you could want to know about the movies at (halliwellsguide.com), relive highlights from favourite rugby matches (rfu.tv), source valuable golf tipster information (rivalsdm.com), download CarCheck guides (parkers.co.uk), horoscopes (handbag.com), great share advice (fool.co.uk), walking guides and maps (walkingworld.com), financial news and market reports (citywire.co.uk) and recruitment guides (onrec.com) - all at just the click of a button and starting from less than 1.


In what has been seen by many as a breakthrough for the future of online businesses, the concept of BT click&buy is set to open up a wealth of content from high street names while enabling web sites to continue to develop and grow, offering high quality, new content to the consumer.

BT click&buy launches with 20 partner sites. Within weeks that number will have doubled to include the likes of Delia Online, lastminute.com and iVillage.co.uk and is set to have over a hundred sites by Christmas.

Consumer market research has shown that people acknowledge the need for quality content on the internet with 46 per cent of UK internet users prepared to pay to allow this to happen. This has certainly proved the case in Germany and the US where there is high demand for quality, paid for online content.

BT click&buy is based on proven and highly successful technology developed by German-based Firstgate Internet AG and it works on both broadband and narrowband based services. End users will be able to pay for content across a huge range of web sites through their BT click&buy account, without having to set up subscriptions or give their credit card details to each different content and service provider. They are also given the reassurance that the service is managed by a trusted brand name.
