Athona’s Las Vegas charity ball raises funds for Saint Francis Hospice and Guide Dogs

Athona Recruitment held its second charity ball on Saturday 18th April at Woolston Manor Golf & Country Club in Chigwell, Essex in aid of Guide Dogs and Saint Francis Hospice

Athona Recruitment held its second charity ball on Saturday 18th April at Woolston Manor Golf & Country Club in Chigwell, Essex in aid of Guide Dogs and Saint Francis Hospice. More than a hundred guests made up of Athona employees, family, friends and clients were present dressed up in their finest attire for the Las Vegas-themed event – and the evening even had its very own Vegas bride and groom.

The entertainment for the evening kicked off with Essex Factor runner-up Chris Daley, who had performed at last year’s event and didn’t fail to impress again this year with his soulful renditions of current and classic hits. Gary Graceland then wowed guests as the King himself, Mr Elvis Presley. Complete with a jewelled encrusted blue jumpsuit, Graceland rocked the crowds with his moves and wooed the ladies in a way only the King could. Professional boxer and Essex lad Joe Mullender also made an appearance as the evening’s special guest. Joe regularly supports Athona’s charitable work.

The excitement continued with the charity auction, which saw employees battling against each other to win the fantastic lots, such as tickets to see Paul McCartney, Jersey Boys and a day with the guide dogs. Of course, no trip to Vegas would be complete without the chance to gamble away (fun) money at the events very own blackjack and roulette casino. Other guests headed to the photo booth for instant snaps of themselves and friends with various props to keep their Vegas experience alive.

Husband-and-wife directors, Stewart and Tina London frequently hold events to raise money for charities chosen by company employees. Tina said, “I am delighted that our charity ball has been so successful for a second year running.  A huge thanks to everyone that contributed on the night, especially those who handed over their hard-earned cash in support of these two worthy charities.  We look set to raise almost £4,000 from the night, and now look forward to planning our next fundraising venture”.
