Recruitment expert launches executive search company

A well-known Yorkshire recruitment professional has launched a senior level and executive search and selection business that will specialise in business critical appointments throughout the UK.

David Winterburn brings more than 26 years of recruitment experience to his new venture, known as Burns Tempest, including the past 17 years which has been gained working in retained executive search.  From its offices in Leeds and London, Burns Tempest will fill roles that typically pay an annual salary of between £50,000 and £500,000.

David previously founded renowned Leeds based head hunting firm Harrison Winterburn Associates, before he was approached to establish executive search company 4c in Belfast, which quickly grew into Northern Ireland’s leading retained executive search firm.

David, who is from Wetherby, says: “After spending more than two years doing a weekly commute to Belfast, I feel the time is right to return to Yorkshire and there is a gap in the market for a best of breed, executive search company that can give every client a completely bespoke service.

“It’s no secret that the most successful companies employ the best people and this is where an exceptional executive search firm can really make a difference.  My ethos has always focussed on taking a pro-active and research led approach to target senior candidates and business leaders who might not be even considering a career move, but it’s about much more than simply identifying people with relevant experience.  I have a great track record of being able to find leaders, who will innovate and make a positive difference in an organisation, and this is what Burns Tempest will become renowned for.”

David previously was Chairman of both the Recruitment and Employment Confederation and the Association of Executive Recruiters and is a past president of the European Confederation of Search and Selection Associations.  In addition he recently completed a maximum six year term on the National Council of the Institute of Directors and has won a range of industry awards including the prestigious Eileen Simpson Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the recruitment industry.
