Mum to launch recruitment agency for parents

A Hucknall mum hopes to help others achieve a better work-life balance by launching a recruitment agency for parents.

Sacha Atherton previously worked as a product manager, but decided to leave her job when she struggled to reduce her hours.

After having no luck finding a more flexible or part-time position which would allow her to spend more time with her young daughter, Jaya, she became her own boss.

Although her Premier Parents recruitment agency has not yet been launched, the public have donated hundreds of pounds through online crowdsourcing platform Crowdfunder.

"I got £200 in four days," the single mum-of-one said.

"I had strangers donating £50, which is amazing. People have really got behind it. I think it is something that is relatable."

The 30-year-old hopes that the online success will bolster her loan application to the Prince's Trust.

She recently completed a four-day workshop with the youth charity, and is now working with an advisor to develop her business plan.

She will then pitch her idea to the trust a Business Launch Group and, if approved, will be given a business mentor and the option of applying for a low-interest loan.

Miss Atherton, who believes the venture will cost around £15,000 to £20,000 to start, added: "I think if I can make this a success it will make a massive difference to parents."

If all goes to plan, Miss Atherton hopes to launch Premier Parents with one member of staff, in March.

Paul Beesley, senior head of enterprise and employment for the Prince's Trust in Central England, said: "Our enterprise programme has provided a lifeline to thousands of young people, helping them to get their lives on track and realise their potential as young entrepreneurs. New businesses enrich their surrounding communities, providing jobs for others, and creating products and services that fulfil a local need."
