Just over 1.5 million adults in the UK are without a basic bank account or access to facilities such as overdrafts. These ‘underbanked’ individuals are currently excluded from making even simple transactions, like standing orders and online purchases.
Although Office for National Statistics (ONS) recently reported that the UK economy actually passed pre-recession peak in September 2014, after six years in the doldrums, we are still a long way off achieving financial inclusion for all.
