JAM Recruitment welcomes eight newcomers to join its newly launched development scheme

Engineering, manufacturing and professional services recruitment specialist, JAM, has recently hired eight new recruits to join its JAM University scheme, which welcomes individuals from a range of backgrounds to embark on a specialist career development programme.

The JAM University was launched in April as a result of the company’s growth and its aim to nurture and develop its own talent from the outset. The scheme is aimed at graduates and school leavers, as well as those looking for an occupation change.

Driven by a blended way of learning, JAM University is split into two parts: training and development. This approach means that each individual that’s enrolled on the programme can have on-the-job, practical experience whilst also being offered key self-assessment and development tools, all underpinned by an e-learning platform. The system is designed on the principles of micro learning, delivering bite-sized chunks of education in a range of formats, tailored specifically for millennials.

Lee Cartney, Business Manager at JAM, said: “A key element that JAM advocates as part of team development is a growth mindset; the ethos behind it resonates with our JAM philosophy of training and developing our people into industry leaders. We wanted to develop a scheme that reflected this, as well as being flexible and catering to each individual joining the JAM University. For us, we felt it was the right time for our business to invest in growth, which is why we’ve devised this L&D programme so we can support those that have the constant desire to learn and progress.”

Danielle Scoble, a student in the JAM University, said: “I’d been working in the Financial Services for the last five years, so when I decided to change my career it was essential that my new role offered me a clear development path, which is what I’ve been offered by JAM. JAM’s innovative approach to learning has meant that we can progress at our own pace by having the self-development tools at our fingertips.”

The JAM University aims to teach people how to be successful in a buoyant marketplace within the key industries that JAM operates in: engineering, manufacturing and professional services. After thorough training, which places emphasis on winning market share, the members of the university will be fully-fledged recruitment consultants.
