Fast Growth winners strengthen team with new appointment

Smart Solutions Recruitment, officially named as the fastest growing business in Wales at this yearís Fast Growth 50 awards, has strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of a new commercial director

Smart Solutions Recruitment, officially named as the fastest growing business in Wales at this year’s Fast Growth 50 awards, has strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of a new commercial director.


Paul Gorin was founder of Cardiff-based Marble Recruitment in 2004. Growing the company from scratch, he was managing director for four years before it was acquired by Time4Recruitment, where he became business development director, before joining Smart. Prior to this, he was business development director with Acorn Recruitment.


Mr Gorin’s new role, created in light of the 3,426.7% growth the company has experienced between 2007 and 2009, will be to develop the business even further with more contract successes and accelerate its expansion in its key sectors.


On his appointment, Mr Gorin said: “When I was initially approached by the company I was astounded by the policies and procedures that Smart has in place, I have been in the industry some time and genuinely did not expect to see something so refreshing. Smart’s unique service model ensures that its clients and workers receive the best possible service.


“Smart’s meteoric growth during the recession is proof that their thorough systems work, ensuring that clients receive the correct workers together with a number of added-value benefits.


“I have been particularly impressed by the way in which Smart has modernised a stale market place and given a new benchmark in the industry.


“It is also encouraging to see the importance it places on developing its staff in a professional manner and the fact it directly employs flexible workers, allowing them access to benefits that only permanent workers would normally expect to receive.


“The company’s success so far is testimony of its innovative techniques, and I’m very excited to begin working with Smart to help it continue to expand.”


Smart was set up in 2007 by CEO Nathan Bowles as an alternative to the way many recruitment agencies are run and offers a number of value-added services not offered by traditional recruitment agencies including on-site recruitment support and management.


It operates in a number of specialist fields including waste and recycling, call centre, food production and manufacturing, as well as permanent recruitment. It has 14 offices across the UK, with 65 employees, processing 1,700 timesheets every week, and a job seeker database of more than 10,000. It aims to open further offices in 2011.


Speaking of Mr Gorin’s appointment, Mr Bowles said: “Having worked at director level within a variety of recruitment businesses, Paul brings significant strategic experience to the role and his understanding of the industry is a real asset to Smart.
